Buying a car in Oregon can be a risky situation. Fortunately, you have the protection of the Oregon Lemon Law on your side. If your vehicle has major problems shortly after you purchase it, you might be able to get it fixed without any out-of-pocket expenses to pay. The following are three steps you can take if you feel as though your vehicle is a lemon.

Contact the Manufacturer

You should contact the vehicle’s manufacturer to find out if they can have the problem fixed under warranty. Make sure that you are still under warranty and that you purchased your vehicle for household or personal use during the warranty period.

Contact the Dealership

The next thing you will need to do is to contact the dealership. The dealership should be able to fix your car under the Oregon Lemon Law. You are well within your right to take the situation to the next level if they are unable to make the necessary repairs in several attempts, or your vehicle has been out of commission for 30 days or more.

Contact an Attorney

An attorney can help you get the repairs or compensation you deserve if the manufacturer or the dealership cannot resolve your situation. Lemon Laws are in place to protect you, and attorneys are there to enforce the law for you.
