When it comes to keeping bundles of electrical wire, tubing or even a single wire or cable in place, finding the right type of mount can be a challenge. This is particularly an issue on surfaces where traditional types of fasteners are problematic or where the environmental conditions are going to make it impossible to rely on adhesives.
There are many different types of cable tie mounting base options out there, each designed with particular applications in mind. Understanding what the options are and the common names can assist in finding the right mounting base for any application or job.
Screw or Saddle Mounts
These are perhaps the most common of the cable tie mounting base options. These mounts are typically square with two sides having a raised bar or roll that allows the cable to slide underneath the bundle of wire and under both sides of the mount rolls. This is then tightened to snug the wires into the mount.
The mount itself is attached to the surface using a screw or a bolt and nut. The center of the mount is typically recessed, keeping the cable out of contact with the screw head or nut.
Metal Detectable Mount
In some applications, it will be essential to be able to determine where the mounting base is located without being able to see the cables or the base. By using a metal mount or a plastic mount with metal backing these mounts will be easy to find using a metal detector.
Low Profile Mounts
When the cable bundle or cable has to sit flush with the surface, low provide cable tie mounting base designs are the ideal option. They also allow for easier installation in confined or limited spaces.
