When you decide to move into an apartment of your own, it can feel like a lonely experience. You may be accustomed to staying in campus housing with friends or living with parents and being in a different environment may feel overwhelming. But there are ways to make your new place feel like home.

Add personal touches

Although you may be busy with classes and work, you can still take time to add personal touches to your home. Doing this will get you more excited about your move and cause it to feel like it’s yours. LSU off-campus housing comes with furniture and decor. But, although these are attractive to look at, you can add more to reflect your individual taste and viewpoints. This can include photos of your close family and friends, framed posters of movies, or art pieces that reflect ideals you are interested in.

Invite people over

While you were living on campus or staying at home, you may not have considered how often you visited with friends and family. But, now in your new place, there is more distance between you and them than before. This doesn’t mean that you can’t see them. Instead, you now get the chance to host them in LSU off-campus housing. To get this done, move your furniture around so that everyone has comfortable seating. Buy a variety of snacks to cover various eating preferences. You can also pick up board games or movies to watch while you have company over.
